In 2006, Stefanie MacDonald transferred from altisHR’s Ottawa office to the company’s Toronto headquarters. The chance to help establish altis’ professional services division was an irresistible attraction—as was the cosmopolitan flare of the city itself. “There’s so much to do in Toronto,” she says, “and so many fascinating candidates to place.” For Stefanie, working with highly skilled senior and specialized professionals has terrific appeal. “These are people deeply invested in their careers, with an idea of the path they want to take,” she explains. “We help them define that path and progress along it, whether advancing in their current occupations or transitioning into new fields. We’re a bridge to the next step in their working lives,” she says. Stefanie has learned that the foundation of successful client-candidate matches is mutual interest. “We want both our candidates and clients to see growth opportunities in the match,” she says. To date, one of Stefanie’s greatest achievements is recruiting for and staffing an entire procurement team—eight staff and one manager. Stefanie has a degree in Marketing and Finance from McGill University and is pursuing her Certified Human Resources Professional designation. In her off hours she enjoys experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen and planning her next travel destination.
